Friendship Not for a ‘day’

Imran Khan, actor
Do you feel the significance of friendship is eroding in today’s ‘busy’ times?
In fact, I feel it has become more important than anything else. Life will always be more hectic and complicated, so it’s
very essential to hold onto friends who are really important to you. In fact, I have been friends with one of my closest pals since I was 4-5 year old so it has been 25 years now. Some time back, he went abroad for four years and in that time, I spoke to him only 7-8 times. But the day he came back, we picked up from where we left off. We didn’t have to work hard at all on it.
Do you believe in the concept of Friendship Day?
Honestly, I don’t. These days  have been created by card companies to sell their stuff.
Do you miss your old friends?I don’t actually because those who have been really special to me have stayed with me always. If for whatever reasons I am not in touch with some of them, then we weren’t such close friends.
Parineeti Chopra, actor
Do you feel the significance of friendship is eroding in today’s ‘busy’ times?
Not at all! The definition of friendship, for me, is a relationship between two people who are just there for each other. It doesn’t matter if we are now being able to talk only online and don’t have enough time to meet each other. Media (of communication) have changed, people’s schedules have also changed but the crux of friendship hasn’t.
Do you believe in the concept of Friendship Day?
Youngsters don’t follow any particular day to wish and love friends. Friends are part of our day-to-day lives. We need them around us every day. But it’s always good to have a day to reinforce that feeling because it’s the day that you take out time and call one another even if you are busy.
Do you miss your old friends?
My friends from college are still in touch with me. I also have new set of friends and those special people make sure I don’t miss anyone else.

Aditya Roy Kapoor, actor
Do you feel the essence of friendship is eroding in today’s ‘busy’ times?
I don’t think so. After all, at the end of day, a human being can’t live in isolation. Being busy can’t affect those relationships which really matter to you. It’s very simple: if you are really close to someone — a friend or a relative, you will make time for that person.
Do you believe in the concept of Friendship Day?
Even if I do or don’t, at the end of the day, it can’t really be a bad thing. It reminds you of beautiful things and relationships. So there’s nothing to complain really.
Do you miss your old friends and are you in touch with any of them?
I am still in touch with my school friends. We spend a lot of time together. In fact, we are sick of each other now (laughs). So much so that we want to take a break now from one another!
Shahid Kapoor, actor
Do you feel the essence of friendship is eroding in today’s ‘busy’ times?I genuinely feel that friends matter a lot in your life. And like every other relationship, we also need to nurture our friendships. Friends are way less demanding than other relationships in our lives.
Do you believe in the concept of Friendship Day?I haven’t thought about Friendship Day per se but yes friendships do matter to me a lot.
Do you miss your old friends and are you in touch with any of them? Most of my friends are actually my school friends since most of my friendships are old ones. Today, everyone is busy but we absolutely need to make time for our friends, both new and old, and chill with them. Believe me it’s worth it.
Sushant Singh Rajput, actor
Do you feel the Essence of friendship is eroding in today’s ‘busy’ times?I don’t think it’s fair to say that! Agar koi friend zaroori hai, to woh zaroori hai! (if a friend is important, he/she is indeed important). Everyone has their own ways of nurturing relations in today’s times.
Do you believe in the concept of Friendship Day?As we grow older our outlook towards the celebration of friendship day at least changes for sure. I can no longer go to my friends and make them wear friendship bands anymore. But I’m content with the fact that they are always there for me.
Do you miss your old friends and are you in touch with any of them? All my friends are still in touch with me. For them I am still a friend first and actor later. It’s like getting back to old mad fun times. Of course I’ve made new friends, but the ones that you grow up with are always the dearest ones.
Varun Dhawan, actor
Do you feel the essence of friendship is eroding in today’s ‘busy’ times? Not for me! The reason being that even if I am busy or my friends are caught up, whenever I meet them everything will remain the same between us because it’s the ‘real’ deal.
Do you believe in the concept of Friendship Day?I feel it’s the same for me at least. Friends last during good times and bad times, but I find naming a day especially for friendship a little lame because friendship is supposed to be 365 days a year, not for one day only.
Do you miss your old friends and are you in touch with any of them?
I am in touch with all of them. In fact my two best friends — Aman and Ankit — are from the time when I was in junior KG. So I have always stayed in touch with all of them regardless of my busy schedule.
