Parineeti ChopraIshaqzaade (2012), and she is both scared and humbled. “After winning so many debut awards I never thought I would win for Ishaqzaade but when I did, it was the biggest one in the country. That too, for my first lead role. I just can’t believe it. But this scares and humbles me, and will definitely make me work even harder in the future,” says the actor.
The 24-year-old who is currently shooting in Rajasthan for Yash Raj’s next says that she always ends up choosing difficult roles. “I am doing Hasi Toh Phasi and that is another difficult role to play. I don’t know why I always choose difficult roles. Something is wrong with me,” she laughs, adding, “I don’t want to do things that are too easy to do... just sing and dance.”
Her criteria of choosing a film, she says is the script and the director. Not the co-star or movie? “Not at all. The film is more important than all of us. Money is the last thing I think of. I may choose an event for money, but not a film,” she says.
She has one of Bollywood’s biggest female stars as a cousin, but she says that Priyanka Chopra would never lobby for her. “My sister is too ethically and morally correct to lobby for me, and anyway these things don’t work in the industry today. A lot of money is put on an actor and no one will invest R25 crore in you and waste their money just because you are so and so’s kid or related to somebody. I don’t think star kids get any leeway at all. There are star kids who haven’t made it big and many non-star kids who have,” says Parineeti.
