The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) weekend and awards is
all set to kick off on July 4 in Macao. There are a lot of expectations
this year as it also celebrates 100 years of Indian Cinema. It will be a
fusion of the old and new, glamour and gold all on one stage.
It is going to be mix of performances by a range of Bollywood stars
including Sridevi, Abhishek Bachchan, Sushant Singh Rajput, Deepika
Padukone, Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra. There is a buzz about
dancing diva, Madhuri Dixit making her debut on the IIFA stage in this
14th edition. The show is going to be co-hosted by Shah Rukh Khan and
Shahid Kapoor. The stage will reflect the current trend of co-existence
in the tinsel town.
IIFA is organised by Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Ltd
which is one of India's premier event management and entertainment
agencies. "As Indian cinema is evolving, you can't stay static with just
eight to nine names. You have to evolve, appreciate and showcase new
talent. The talent which you, as cinema makers want to showcase to the
world. This is what makes cinema based on stories, and not just star
power," said Sabbas Joseph one of the founder directors of Wizcraft
International Entertainment.
This being one of Bollywood's grandest shows is going to make fans go
gaga over the performances this year. The performances are going to be
'sweet and magical'. You have the big names of Indian cinema like Shah
Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi
and Prabhu Deva all on the same stage. And also the younger talent like
Ayushmann, Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra. All of them will
hold fort at the same place. It will be an exciting, pulsating and
magical show," he added. He promised that IIFA will be a complete
package.
The Bachchan family makes a return to IIFA this year which is held at
the Venetian Macao. The main awards ceremony which will be held on
Saturday will see different kinds of films competing against each other.
Barfi tops the nomination list with 13 nominations, following this is
Vicky Donor with nine nominations. Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur-
Part I and Karan Johar's Agneepath too have good number of nominations.
The entertainment quotient at IIFA will belong to IIFA Rocks presented
Grey Goose, a fashion and music event, which promises to attract
Bollywood buffs with the 'magic of movies'. This is to be held on July 5
with performances like Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonu Sood, Sophie Choudry,
Arjun Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Hussain Kuwajerwala and Gauhar Khan. IIFA
Rocks will be hosted by Boman Irani and Vir Das, who will also been seen
promoting their upcoming film "Santa Banta".
"There will be star power which will be relevant for the next 100 years.
At the same time, we will explore and capture the magic of the movies.
There will be music, dance, heroes and heroines. We will do it in a fun
way and relevant way which the audience will understand and comprehend,"
 said Joseph.
IIFA is going women centric this time. It is backing a social cause of
women empowerment and it will pursue under the programme 'Power of 49'.
Bollywood has been doing its bit by giving women and women-oriented
scripts an outstanding space. Veteran actress Shabana Azmi explains the
idea behind '49', "Forty nine percent is the figure of the women we have
in our country today and as a nation we can call ourselves civilised if
 this 49 percent gets empowered
