One new thing I would like to do this year is playback singing in my movie. Ever since I was three years old, I have wanted to sing. My sister Priyanka Chopra has now released an album and she’s been extremely successful. That has motivated me to sing now as well. Our whole family is into music. It was something I always knew I would pursue, it was just a matter of time when.
Singing is my dream... I am a trained classical vocalist in Hindustani music from the Agra gharana and have done my BA Honours in classical music. I want to sing all genres — from ghazals to pop to rock and even classical. It all depends on my mood. I can’t compose music or write lyrics. I will only sing for my films...
As far as cinema is concerned, according to me, the newest thing that has happened to films is the audience today. Because their sensibilities have changed, we are able to make different kinds of films from commercial entertainers like Cocktails, Rowdy Rathod andDabangg to sensible films like Issaq, Paan Singh Tomar and Lootera. With the new audience so many genres have opened up. And you don’t have to be a superstar’s son or daughter to be accepted. You can be as new as you or me and be equally accepted. Today a non-star or star’s film can be a flop or blockbuster.
